I'm probably better known for playing deeper stuff and techno right now and this has always been a passion for me. However, I am also a DJ who has played house from the beginning including house residencies at clubs like ARQ. The music of Frankie Knuckles was a big part of my life in the 1990s and it has remained a strong influence on my DJing, remixing and production.

The delicate interplay of light and dark, the lush piano, the extravagant orchestral flourishes, the fat beats and bass lines, the crisp hats and percussion and of course the pretty synths and emotive vocals, are the key elements of house laid down by Frankie and his peers over the last 30 years. Frankie in many ways set the standard for high quality dance music production.

Even the deepest, darkest and hardest techno I play has a house pedigree, whether it's bass lines, percussion, synths, vocal samples, or that classic bouncy groove. The development of the two genres has shared a common path; in my mind they are branches of the same tree. One way or another house always features in my techno sets.

I was lucky enough to dance to an amazing set by Frankie at Sublime when the Fuzzy boys brought him out in the late 1990s. He actually worked for my event production company when we invited him in 2002 to Sydney to play at the last of six Harbour Parties we produced from 1997-2002.

It was a great thrill to meet the very tall and softly spoken Frankie with his massive warm smile and humble manner in the DJ booth on the harbour's edge that summer's afternoon. This was the smile of a man who took great pleasure from what he did and saw every day in music as a privilege.

I'm really looking forward to playing the warm up set at I Remember House at the Ivy on 28 June. I will be doing my best to do justice to some of these great Frankie tunes and deliver a classic house set that will not only warm the cockles of your heart but also get you on the dance floor.

Frankie Knuckles has left his mark on me as a person, as a DJ and as a producer and I am grateful for what he has done for the world of music and entertainment.

Respect and love.

It was great to dust off the house tunes for the lads at Bear Bar over the Mardi Gras Festival in Sydney.

This set is vocal house, something I haven't played much of in recent years but which still gives me great pleasure.

You'll hear plenty of 2015 chunky bass lines, synths and kicks with some gorgeous gospel vocals layered over the top of many of these tracks.

Also listen out for a bit of Mardi Gras magic as I throw in the odd classic.

Thanks Jonny for the chance to play at one of the hottest places on the strip over Mardi Gras and thanks to my furry friends for the support.

Crank it up and get into it.

Freakin' hard techno. I was in the mood for some deep, driving, banging, bruising techno.

This mix has tracks by Ronny Vergara, Joseph Dalik, Forexample, Darmec, Maae, Jan Fleck, Lorenzo D'Ianni and Chris David. You can buy all of these storming choons at beatport.com.

Hard, just like in the good ol' days... thanks for your support
